Fino al 25 gennaio 2010 è possibile vedere le sue opere esposte in Second Life alla celebre galleria d’arte Avatrait Gallery, dove ciascuna immagine può essere acquistata a 3.500 linden con consegna della copia al termine dell’esposizione. L’artista in questione è Nessy Shepherd, un nome noto ai lettori di SLnn.it per essere tra le owner e creatrici di Valsharen Dark Realm (http://www.slnn.it/dark_side_of_sl/i_drow_trovano_casa_su_second_life.html). Nessy in RL è una signora olandese, appassionata di fantasy (in particolare dei Drow), scrittrice e pittrice. Nell’esposizione in Avatrait potete trovare molte sue immagini reali assieme a lavori creati in Second Life.

Nessy è un’artista eclettica, capace di creare immagini fantasy o classiche, ma anche moderne o surreali, per arrivare a suggestioni di estrema attualità come i Na’vi del film Avatar, con o senza ricorrere all’elaborazione digitale in postproduzione. Se non doveste riuscire a vedere la mostra vi consiglio vivamente di spendere qualche ora per ammirare i suoi lavori su Koinup.com o Flickr.com, ce ne sono per tutti i gusti davvero, accomunati dall’uso di colori intensi e pastosi (ma non mancano le immagini in bianco e nero) e da una ricchezza dell’immagine che a me ricorda le opere di alcuni pittori fiamminghi come Rogier van der Weyden, ovviamente rilette e corrette per renderle attuali e coerenti con l’utilizzo di nuovi supporti del XXI secolo.

The artist is Nessy Shepherd, a name familiar to readers of SLnn.it because she is one of the owners and creators of Valsharen Dark Realm (http://www.slnn.it/dark_side_of_sl/i_drow_trovano_casa_su_second_life.html). Nessy in RL is a Dutch woman, fond of Fantasy (especially Drow), writer and painter. In the exposition at Avatrait gallery you can find many of her real images alongside works created in Second Life.

Nessy is an eclectic, able to create fantasy images or classic, but also modern and surreal, to arrive at some topical suggestions like the Na'vi of Avatar the movie, with or without recourse to digital in postproduction. Should you not be able to attend the exhibition I recommend you to spend some time to admire her work on Koinup.com or Flickr.com. There is something for everyone really, united by the use of vivid colors and pasty (but not missing pictures in black and white) and with rich images that reminds me the works of Flemish painters like Rogier van der Weyden, reinterpreted and corrected, of course, to bring them current and consistent with the use of new media of the twenty-first century.
